Create a segment for bounced contacts in Mautic

You'll use this process to keep track of contacts whose emails have bounced back over the time. Having a separate segment for bounced emails helps you spot delivery problems quickly. Think of it as a monitoring segment for returned mail so you can figure out when something went wrong.

Requirements

  • Mautic login details
  • Permission to create segments

Step-by-step guide

  1. Go to the Segments page
  2. Click on the "New" button
  3. Type a name that makes sense, like "Bounced Contacts"
  4. Open the Filters tab
  5. Pick these settings for your filter:
    • Choose "Bounced - Email" from the field dropdown
    • Set it to "equals"
    • Pick "Yes"
  6. Click save

Note

You can fill a description to help the customer understand what is this segment doing.

Description: Includes all contacts for whom sending emails failed, whether due to temporary or permanent issues.

How do I know if I executed this process correctly?

  • You'll see your new segment in the list
  • The number of contacts in the segment will start increasing as it finds bounces
  • You can click in and see all bounced contacts in one place
