Configure error messages on the form

When working with Mautic forms, it's essential to ensure that users receive appropriate feedback when they encounter errors.

This process will guide you through configuring error messages, ensuring that mandatory fields are highlighted and users are informed when their form submissions are unsuccessful.

Steps

  1. Log in to your Mautic dashboard.
  2. Navigate to the Forms page and select the form you wish to configure (or create a new one).
  3. Enter the Fields tab
  4. For each form field, click on the button to edit its properties.
  5. Go to the Validation tab and ensure that the Required option is enabled for mandatory fields.
  6. In the same tab, provide a custom error message that will be displayed if the field is left empty.
  7. To test the error messages, save the form and preview it.
    • Leave a mandatory field empty and submit the form to see the error message.

Note

It's crucial to provide clear and specific error messages to guide users through successful form completion.

Results

  • Mandatory fields should display a custom error message when left empty.
  • The form should not submit if required fields are not filled out.

Info

If the error message does not display after editing an existing form, clear your browser cache and try again.
