Creating contacts through forms

Creating contacts in Mautic through forms involves a few tasks, such as setting up your form, customizing it, then defining actions upon submission. Setting up the form is crucial to ensure your converting leads will be created with the right values in their associated fields.

Info

It’s faster to create a form when you have a clear understanding of the form's purpose and knowledge of the fields and data you wish to collect.

Steps

  1. Log in to your Mautic account and navigate to the Forms page under Components on the menu.
  2. Click on New to add a new form. Choose between a campaign form or a standalone form based on your needs.
  3. Customize your form by adding a name and description. Decide what happens after submission, such as redirecting to a thank you page or displaying a message.
  4. Add fields to your form. Select from various types like text, email, checkbox, etc., and configure field-specific settings such as default values and validation rules.
    • You must associate the form fields with Contact or Companies profile fields.
  5. If necessary, choose a theme to align with your branding or design preferences.
  6. Set up form actions such as updating tags, sending emails, or modifying contact segments upon form submission.
  7. Test your form to ensure it works as expected and that the data flows into Mautic correctly.

Results

  • A new contact is created or an existing one is updated in Mautic when the form is submitted.
  • Any configured actions, like email notifications or segment updates, are triggered upon form submission.

Note

Consider the user experience when designing your form; make it as easy and intuitive as possible to maximize conversion rates. Remember that forms are a key touchpoint with potential customers, so they should reflect the professionalism and branding of your organization.
