Token budget overage¶
Applicability¶
This policy applies to the AI tiers that include a pooled annual token budget: AI Essentials, AI Pro, and AI Enterprise. (AI PoC uses a monthly budget that resets each month — see the PoC product page for how that works.)
What the budget covers¶
When you sign a yearly AI contract, your monthly token allowance is pooled across the full term. A 12-month contract with a €200/month allowance gives you €2,400 of token spend to use however the year shapes up — front-load it, back-load it, save it for a big launch. The entire annual budget is available from day one of the contract.
What happens when you approach the limit¶
You won't be cut off the moment you hit your budget. We don't like hard caps any more than you do, and a sudden stop in the middle of a campaign or a customer interaction would be the worst possible outcome.
Instead:
- We monitor usage continuously and reach out well before you exhaust your pooled budget, so you can decide what to do next.
- If usage continues past the limit, a sensible buffer keeps your AI features running while we talk. The buffer is there to protect both sides: you don't get a surprise outage, and we don't get surprise costs.
- At any point during the contract you can top up your budget. Renewing more budget is straightforward and takes effect immediately — there's no penalty for going over.
The buffer is not unlimited. It exists to bridge a normal conversation about extending budget, not to support sustained spend several multiples above the contracted amount. If usage is dramatically outside the contracted envelope and a top-up isn't agreed, we'll work with you to either rein consumption back in or move you to a contract that better matches actual usage.
How to top up¶
Contact your Dropsolid account manager, or open a request at support.dropsolid.io. Top-ups are billed at the standard token pricing on your tier and can be applied at any time during the contract term.
At contract renewal¶
Pooled budgets don't carry over to the next term — at renewal we look at the previous year's actual usage and agree a budget that fits.
