Monitored inbox configuration

In the configuration area of Mautic, users can define the monitored email address, connection details, and the folders to check for bounces and unsubscribe requests.

Success

It’s better to create an email address specifically for this purpose, as Mautic reads each message it finds in the given inbox.

If it’s your first time using this feature, you might want to ask our support to set the technical configuration.

Steps

  1. Open the right sidebar and click on Configuration.
  2. Find the Email settings on the list and click to open it.
  3. Scroll down until you find the Monitored inbox settings.
  4. Fill your information
    • Monitored address: The address for the account to be monitored. This will be used when generating a bounce, unsubscribe, etc., addresses if applicable.
    • IMAP host: It’s an address commonly similar to imap.example.com. Check your email provider for these details.
    • IMAP username: In most providers, it’s the complete email address used for login, as the one you filled on Monitored address.
    • Port: Port to use to connect to the mail host.
    • Encryption: Encryption for server connection. Some servers may require the no-validate options which will not validate the server's SSL certificate.
    • IMAP password: It’s commonly the same password used to log in your account, for the address you filled on Monitored address.

Success

Use the button Test connection and fetch folders to ensure everything is working as expected.

  1. On Bounces, find the field Folder to check and select the desired folder for Mautic to monitor.
  2. Once finished, click to Save & Close.

Warning

Purchasing bulk email lists can lead to high bounce rates and damage your sender reputation. It's better to build and maintain a permission-based email list to ensure that your recipients are genuinely interested in your content.
