Managing inactive contacts

Managing inactive contacts in Mautic is a crucial process for maintaining a clean and efficient system, ensuring that your marketing efforts are targeted towards active and engaged contacts, thereby improving the effectiveness of campaigns and conserving resources.

Your company might use this process to remove contacts who have not engaged with any emails in the past six months, for example.

Requirements

Steps

  1. Create a segment for inactive contacts using filters such as 'email is empty' and 'date last active is less than -6 months'.
  2. Build a campaign that targets the segment created in step 1. This campaign should have a single step: 'Delete contact'.
  3. Monitor the segment to ensure that it remains empty or contains only a few contacts, indicating that inactive contacts are being promptly deleted.

Note

You can also consider alternative actions for inactive contacts, such as resetting lead points to zero after a period of inactivity or moving them to a 'do not contact marketing' segment.

Results

Inactive contacts are automatically removed or otherwise managed.
